Cleveland SAPS launched a manhunt for the suspects responsible for the murder of Cleveland policeman, Constable Mashudu Neudane.
Neudane, the father of a two-year-old girl, was shot and killed after intervening in a robbery on Jules Street in Malvern on August 24.
Joburg East SAPS Cluster communication coordinator Capt Richard Munyayi said police officers received a call about the business robbery, and the officers responded.
“Upon arrival, the complainant pointed out the three suspects. The suspects fled on foot and police gave chase.
“Neudane got out of the vehicle and gave chase. The suspects fled on foot. He was shot twice in the head, and once in his hand.
“Paramedics were called and he was certified dead on the scene. A firearm believed to have been used to shoot the police officer was recovered on the scene. A manhunt has since been launched for the three suspects,” he said.

Munyayi said the cluster has lost a good officer.
“It’s very painful to see the cluster losing such a young officer, who we know, planned to work for the police service for many years to come.
“Neudane was committed to his work. He loved and respected everyone. As a cluster we would also like to send our sincere condolences to his family,” he said
Munyayi has urged the residents who may have information on the murder of Neudane to come forward.
“We appeal to the community to assist the police with information that could lead to the arrests of the suspects.”
Neudane was born on July 8, 1982, at Makonde Village in Venda.
He was the third son of Jerry and Alice Neudane.
He started school at Makonde Primary School in 1988, and in 1995 proceeded to Raluvhimba Secodary School where he matriculated in 2000.

“He joined the SAPS in 2011 and served until his untimely death while executing his duties,” said Munyayi.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, parents and three siblings.
His memorial service was held at City Bible Church in Kensington on August 29.
He was buried on September 1 at Makonde village.
Neudane’s death was the second police killing to shock Joburg East communities in recent months.
Johannesburg East SAPS Cluster Constable Thandanani Zwelakhi Shange (25) was shot and killed during a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Hillbrow on June 21.
