Spokesperson for the station, Captain Johan Jordaan said police received a phone call from Clever Mabaso who works at the 7 Arrows Security.
Mabaso alerted officers to the dagga plans. He was patrolling in the area when he discovered the dagga plantation.
“Police proceeded to the given address. Upon arrival they discovered that a large area close to the bridge and on the sides of the river bank was planted with dagga. Cleveland SAPS officers, Mabaso, security officers from Peace Force Security and the Bruma Business Association gardeners removed all the dagga plants,” he said.
Jordaan said the dagga filled up a canter and two police patrol vehicles.
“It is not known if somebody planted the dagga or if the seeds came down the river and started to grow.
“The dagga was confiscated by Cleveland SAPS and we will destroy it as soon as possible,” he said.
The street value of the dagga is not known.
