Residents prepared different meals representing their culture for Heritage Month celebrations in Jumpas. The EXPRESS asked them about the dishes they prepared.
Zinhle Talatala said: "I made Umngqusho. It is a dish made from white maize and sugar beans. It is a staple food for the Xhosa people. The food I cooked represent the Xhosa culture." Ncebakazi Bem said: "I cooked Umvubo and sour milk mixed with dry pap. The food I cooked represent the Xhosa culture." Pertunia Ringani said: "I cooked xigugu, tihove - a kind of samp and tshopi (mealie pap). The food I cooked represent the Tsonga culture." Norita Sibanda said: "I made cooked Sadza which is cooked cornmeal. It is Shona's cultural food."
